Dancing Waters

I started this painting en plein air along the creek in my Westchester County NY backyard on an unusually balmy morning in January. I was inspired by the way the sun was glistening on the falls and moving waters of the creek supported by dappled light on the nearby foliage. I started with a local color pastel and alcohol underpainting on pastel board and finished with soft pastels.
