Born from the sea foam
When the GPS showed the nearby location of Aphrodite's Birthplace during our drive to Paphos in Cyprus, I could not resist and had to make a quick detour. It was worthwhile! Golden hour lighting, great waves, stormy sky! What else do you need to be happy and paint?
My first in the Cyprus series of pastel paintings. I'm back to pastels after a 20-year break and only a short pastel adventure ages ago as an amateur. It's done on Pastelmat on a foam core board. I mounted it myself as it's not available in Poland in such a form. Then I use Prismacolor Nupastel wet underpainting with Schmincke and Sennelier soft pastels on top. I watched some online tutorials showing how to do an underpainting, and it's a great adventure and a great benefit to the final painting. I really enjoy!
