Big Blue River
This is looking at the banks of the Big Blue near my home after many days of rain. Painted on pastelmat using Unison and Richeson pastels, I spent a lot of time on the shadows and reflections in the water. In the foreground, I was trying to capture both the color of the water and the ability to see down several inches to the sandy bottom, the sun‘s reflections. I spent several hours over a few days, coming back until I finally thought it was finished by adding the twigs/small branches on the left side.
