The Children of the Burning Night

This work is about what I refer to as the children of the boring nights. Its directs my life growing up in the Philly near the refineries and how the night was always lit by flame. Because of this the nights were overly active and dangerous. I lost many friends including my brother to those streets. I wanted to show how people mourn their fellow friends and family by hanging shoes. But also the figure hanging shoes is left out of the crowd under the light, which for me shows the relationship of of how people that move away aren't included into the city anymore but they still have hurt.
